Coaches’ Corner
Resources for CHLL Coaches and Volunteers
The main job of a youth sports coach is keeping athletes safe. Review our Fact Sheet for Coaches on Concussions. We also have a Concussion Fact Sheet for Parents. These information guides provide valuable details on how to protect athletes from concussion or other serious brain injury, how to spot a concussion, and know what to do if a concussion occurs.
Become a Volunteer
We think it's terrific that you want to volunteer with CHLL! Doing so is easy and just takes the few steps that are outlined below. Please note that in addition to the following steps, you must receive board approval prior to volunteering:
-
All volunteers are required to register in the Sports Connect system. If you need assistance creating an account, access step-by-step instructions here.
-
Once registered, you are required to complete and pass the free "HEADS UP to Youth Sports" online training course, which will teach your how to understand respond to potential concussions. Every volunteer is required to complete concussion training every two years. Once you pass and receive your electronic certificate, please email your certificate to our Safety Officer at compliance@chlldc.org
-
All adults having repetitive access to minor athletes are required to read the Little League Child Protection Program and be familiar with the corresponding obligations, policies, and legal requirements relating to reporting child sexual abuse. U.S. Federal SafeSport law may impose both civil and criminal penalties on anyone failing to report a reasonable suspicion of child abuse to the proper authorities.
No volunteer will be allowed to participate in league activities without completing all volunteer requirements and receiving board approval. Please contact our Safety Officer at compliance@chlldc.org if you need assistance or have any questions.
