Baseball
Baseball players can sign up for Juniors, Majors, Triple A, Double A, or Single A baseball (the division they qualify for is primarily based on age). Baseball is co-ed and open to all players who will turn 5 on or before August 31, 2025. Click here for the Little League 2025 age chart.
Softball
The CHLL softball division’s goal is to develop fundamental and advanced softball skills through positive teaching, emphasis on continuous improvement, and teamwork. Softball is organized similarly to the baseball divisions with some flexibility for those players coming to the game with baseball or softball experience. We are including girls ages 5-14 in the league this year with placement across the divisions determined by player ability and previous experience. Because we historically have a limited number of in-house teams in softball, CHLL will partner with other leagues around the city and Northern Virginia to develop game schedules. This may mean that travel off the Hill is necessary for you and your player. Softball League Age is determined by your player's age as of December 31, 2024. Please see this chart for more details.
Late surcharges: To assist with our planning process and because we may need to cap player registrations (pending field availability), we ask that you register early.
Waitlist: Please register as soon as possible to avoid being waitlisted as a large number of kids are expected to play this fall. Baseball and softball players will be moved to the waitlist if the league reaches capacity.
Challenger
Please read carefully: Challenger is our free youth baseball program for players with specific physical or mental needs who wish to participate in the wonderful game of baseball. If your child is registered for our other baseball or softball programs and does not have special needs, he/she should not be registered for Challenger.
The rules and the spirit of our Challenger program are designed to spur friendly competition and instill the love of baseball. Challenger does not have a registration fee to participate.
Challenger players are teamed with community volunteers and players from our Majors Division, who serve as “buddies” and help with fielding and hitting. The structure of each session will include a warm up, a scrimmage/game, and then a cool down, but with skill development embedded into the game/scrimmage structure.
Players meet the residency requirement under any one of the following three conditions:
-
Residency
Reside within Capitol Hill Little League’s boundary.
Proof of residency must be provided upon registration.
-
School
Attend a school within Capitol Hill Little League boundary.
If a player does not reside within the CHLL boundary but attends a school within the league boundary, the child is eligible. Please submit the School Enrollment Form to the league registrar.
-
Waiver
Have a waiver under special circumstances.
Contact the league registrar to determine if you are eligible for a special waiver,
Please note that starting with the Spring 2025 season, players who are league age 4-7 may register for Capitol Hill Little League regardless of residence or school. Please click here for the new rule from Little League.
