Kid Pitch Baseball Division Placement Policies

Sometimes, families ask us about their player joining a different division in baseball (e.g. a League Age 10 player moving to Majors baseball, or a League Age 11 player continuing in AAA baseball). Please see the policies below for more information, and see the Little League International Site for details about LA determination.

Policies for Majors Baseball:

All LA 12 players will be placed in the Majors Division.

  • LA 11 players who score 20 or more points (out of 40) during the independent evaluation will be placed in Majors.

  • If an LA 11 player scores 16 or more points but less than 20 points (out of 40) during the evaluation, the Majors and AAA commissioners, Player Agents, and Board President will contact their parent/guardian and determine whether the player should be placed in Majors or AAA.

  • If an LA 11 player scores less than 16 points (out of 40) during the evaluation, they will be placed in AAA.

  • If roster spots are still available in Majors after placing all LA 12 and LA 11 players in their appropriate divisions, an interested LA 9 or LA 10 player may be placed in Majors if their workout score ranks within the top third of all players being considered for Majors. Any available roster spots will be offered to the highest ranking eligible LA 9 and LA 10 player(s) until such roster spots are filled

Policies for AAA Baseball

  • All LA 9 and LA 10 players are eligible to play in the AAA Division.

  • If an LA 11 player scores 12 or more points but fewer than 15 points (out of 30) during the independent evaluation, the Majors and AAA commissioners, Player Agents, and Board President will contact their parent/guardian and determine whether the player should be placed in Majors or AAA.

  • If an LA 11 player scores less than 12 points (out of 30) during the independent evaluation, they will be placed in AAA.

  • If roster spots are still available in AAA after placing all LA 11, LA 10, and LA 9 players in their appropriate divisions, an interested LA 8 player may be placed in AAA if their workout score ranks within the top third of all players being considered for AAA. Any available roster spots will be offered to the highest ranking eligible LA 8 player(s) until such roster spots are filled.

NOTE : The CHLL Board may consider exceptional cases related to drafts.

As always, the CHLL President (president@chlldc.org) and Player Agents (playeragent@chlldc.org) are here to answer any questions you have.
